To get a good image, the contrast is very important because if we watch movies in the dark LED TVs can suffer with deep blacks. The panels are offered better contrast VA: All models of Samsung 2014 and most Sony models. The panels are the worst contrast IPS: LG 2014 models.
An important aspect is the Local / Micro Dimming, which darkens the screen areas to get deeper blacks.
If we usually see action movies, we must also look at the Refresh Rate. The higher refresh rate TVs allow you to view images correctly, no ghosting, where action films are fast-moving.

Finally we consider the Audio system. All LED HDTV have poor sound, except some high-end model. We recommend buying an external audio to get the best audio system.
Best LED HDTV for watching films are:
- Low-range: Sony W600B 200/50Hz
- Mid-range: Sony W800B 3D active 400/100Hz
- High-range: Samsung H7150 3D Active 800/200Hz MicroDimming
